R.O. Writer will operate on either a Peer-to-Peer or Client/Server network.

Peer-to-Peer Network (max 10 users) - Minimum requirements for workstation to be used as the server
  • Pentium 4 2.4 GHz (AMD Processors OK; Dual & Quad Core Processors preferred)
  • 2 Gig RAM
  • 60 Gig HD, min 7200 RPM
  • Win XP Professional (Windows 7 certification - June 2010)
  • 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 Screen Resolution
  • DVD Drive required if using Activant or Alldata
Client/Server Network - Minimum Server requirements
  • Pentium 4 2.4 GHz (AMD Processors OK; Dual & Quad Core Processors preferred)
  • 2 Gig RAM minimum
  • 60 Gig HD, min 7200 RPM
  • Windows 2003 Server
  • DVD Drive required if using Activant or Alldata
Workstations - Minimum Workstation requirements
  • Pentium 4 2.4 GHz (AMD Processors OK; Dual & Quad Core Processors preferred)
  • 1 Gig RAM - 2 Gig RAM Preferred
  • 60 Gig HD, min 7200 RPM
  • Win XP Professional (Windows 7 certification - June 2010)
  • 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 Screen Resolution
  • May need CD Drive (DVD Drive required if using Activant or Alldata)
Other Recommendations:
  • 1 Gbps network cards (NIC) and switch (hub) are preferable but not mandatory.
  • A High-Speed Internet Connection is necessary (DSL or Cable Modem).
  • Laser Jet Printers are preferred (HP, Brother, Lexmark, Epson, etc. OK).
  • Typical Backup Device: USB Flash (Thumb) Drive, min 256 Meg.
  • We DO NOT recommend nor support Windows 98, 2000, Millennium.
  • We DO NOT recommend WinXP Home in a networked or production environment or when using Activant.
  • We DO NOT recommend nor support running R.O. Writer on a Linux network.
  • We DO NOT recommend nor support Norton or Symantec Internet Security or Personal Firewall.
  • Running R.O. Writer on a wireless network can slow down access time. Use 802.11G or N.
